The Keri Lab focuses on molecularly understanding genomic instability, epigenetic regulation, and mechanisms governing therapeutic efficacy and resistance, all in the context of breast cancer.

The Keri Lab resides in the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. Our mission is to provide key research findings in breast cancer to improve outcomes from this disease and to train the next generation of scientists. We provide care for each other and are fortunate to collaborate with other labs regionally, nationally, and internationally.

Our research is driven by curiosity. This curiosity has allowed us to be open to various biological fields in understanding breast cancer. Traditionally, we are known for investigating the roles of essential transcription factors in mammary gland development and carcinogenesis. Throughout the years we have expanded to investigating drug cocktails for treating breast cancer, elucidating mechanisms of therapeutic resistance, studying genomic instability, and understanding epigenetic regulation in breast cancer.

Our Team

We are very proud of our present and past lab members. Currently, the Keri lab is composed of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows and research assistants. We also have the pleasure of training students from the CWRU Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP), the Department of Pharmacology’s Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP), and the Young Scientist Foundation (YSF). Previous lab members hold various positions nationwide in academia, such as post-doctoral fellowships and tenured faculty positions, as well as in industry, including serving as medical science liasions and research scientists.

Our Research

The Keri lab has a wide range of focuses within the field of breast cancer. Our current projects include studying the role of genomic instability and the importance of epigenetic regulation in breast cancer, as well as identifying combination therapies that improve drug efficacy and elucidating mechanisms of therapeutic resistance in the hopes of preventing or countering such resistance.
